Professional Experience and Areas of Concentration
After graduating from the University of Denver Law School in 1986, Mr. Tiemeier worked in medical malpractice defense for many years. His experience in the courtroom included radial keratonomy trials, which piqued his interest in refractive surgery in general. After a several–year period of involvement in complex commercial litigation, including real estate, intellectual property and securities fraud, he returned to medical malpractice defense. He continues to represent physicians in all practice specialties in the courtroom, as trial work is and always has been his enduring passion. From his special interest in ophthalmology came invitations to share his knowledge at national and regional meetings with ophthalmologists who wanted to lower their exposure to litigation, particularly from refractive surgery. This resulted in developing a risk management counseling practice that came from his experience in the courtroom, as well as what he has learned from the insurance company executives, risk managers and distinguished physicians he has had the privilege of working with at these meetings and conventions, and as clients.
