Appellate Law
The appellate lawyers at Montgomery Little & Soran provide two services. They handle appeals, of course, but that is only the more conspicuous half of their work. The other half is performed during litigation at the trial court level, where they analyze and brief all novel or sophisticated legal issues. That means they are an integral part of the complex litigation team, as well as being on call in other types of cases at the request of the trial attorney.
The collective experience of the appellate lawyers spans years of practice and includes multiple appearances before the Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, our appellate team consists of attorneys who have taught law school legal research and writing courses, who served in the judiciary as well as judicial internships and clerkships, and who regularly teach both appellate advocacy as well as substantive law to other attorneys.
In addition to handling appeals as counsel of record, the firm’s appellate lawyers are often retained to consult on briefs being prepared by other law firms and to submit "friend of the court" briefs in high-profile cases.
