State Government
Montgomery Little Soran & Murray has defended the State of Colorado and its various departments and agencies against liability claims many times over the years. The firm currently defends the Regents of the University of Colorado, University Hospital Authority, the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and its faculty, employees, and resident physicians in training. The attorneys at Montgomery Little Soran & Murray have successfully worked with the Division of Risk Management and Department of Administration to prevent, minimize, resolve, and litigate claims.
Additionally, the firm has handled cases for the State Highway Department in which litigants claimed that the state negligently constructed or designed the highway, or claimed that the state used substandard materials, or improper or inadequate barricades and the like. In one case, Montgomery Little Soran & Murray successfully defended the state against claims filed by private citizens injured by a prisoner who had escaped from a state penal institution.
The firm has successfully represented the state and some of its subdivisions in civil rights cases, ERISA cases, and employment discrimination matters based on age or sex, or other allegedly discriminatory employment practices.
The Governmental Immunity Act is an issue in almost every case against a governmental entity and its employees. Montgomery Little Soran & Murray maintains comprehensive research files including case law, articles, and sample pleadings covering nearly every facet of the Act. Our attorneys also have extensive practical experience working with and arguing the Act's restrictive provisions.
