Professional Experience and Areas of Concentration
Karen Best started her legal career in 1983, practicing in the field of medical malpractice defense. In January of 1999, she shifted her area of practice to family law, and now practices exclusively in that field. She represents clients in matters involving dissolution of marriage, post-decree issues, custody, paternity, step-parent adoption, grandparent visitation and prenuptial agreements.
Ms. Best is on the board of directors for Colorado Collaborative Law Professionals and offers collaboration as an alternative approach to litigaiton in dissolution of marriage cases. This is an emerging area of family law that requires a shared commitment of participants to resolve their disputes without court intervention, in a way that preserves family relations and addresses the needs of all parties, to the extent possible.
Ms. Best has been with the firm since 1989, and is a shareholder and director of the firm. She is also a contributing author of several chapters of Colorado Civil Procedure Forms and Commentary.
