Few conduct their lives according to these principles.  Fewer still define them.

Dave Little – the head of our MLS family for 55 years and a brilliantly shining star – died peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, September 25, 2020.  He was 86.  His loss is as personal for us as it is professional.

Dave and his friend Bob Montgomery started this law firm in July of 1965, and he finally retired from practice earlier this year.  He was just so darn good at it.  The law was Dave’s life, and he fully embraced it.  He was a lawyer’s lawyer, helping members of our bar with their own challenges and difficulties. He was rewarded with longevity in practice, a fitting compliment to his enduring devotion.

Dave’s contributions to the legal profession are legion, and his dedication to maintaining a collegial bar of true professionals was indefatigable.  We need not list out his numerous accolades and awards because they didn’t mean much to Dave.  He would also be the first to say his resume doesn’t matter much.

Instead, we will remember a man whose quiet confidence lead him to accomplish great things for his clients and for his profession, without fanfare or pretense.  Dave treated even his most junior peers as his equals, inculcating values that are timeless and in short supply.  He never celebrated status; he always celebrated individuals.  He was a present, steady counselor.  He taught without saying a word.  While others were busy coining catchy nicknames, Dave was busy forging trust and respect.

Dave craved collaboration, solving problems, and cold beer.  If he had a motto, it must have been “What’s next?”

What’s next, indeed!  Peace and Joy be with you David, as you greet the Dawn of Eternal Surprise.
